The social network TikTok held a ceremony for the best video of 2024: who won the award

TikTok summed up 2024 and the best video of the year turned out to be a real phenomenon.

It turns out that TikTok holds an awards ceremony for content creators every year. And this is really a serious event with a big concert, similar to the “Grammy” or “Eurovision”.

What do you think TikTok has voted the best video of 2024? Think back to all the videos you've watched this year and think about which one could have won this award. The answer: Leah Holton won the award for her video in a car where she just sits there doing nothing.

If you haven't seen this video, it now has over 945 million views and 56 million likes. The video itself is only 12 seconds long and is a simple lip-sync (lip-syncing to music) with no notable elements.

This win perfectly captures the essence of TikTok as a platform. It literally demonstrates that no matter how hard you try, no matter how much effort you put into editing, scripting, or timing, a video where someone is just sitting in a car will win.
