The Sims 3 gets its first update in 10 years: what's in it

Electronic Arts has planned an update for the life simulator Sims 3, which was released in 2009.

Next month, The Sims will celebrate its 25th anniversary, so Electronic Arts has planned a lot of content update events. The most unexpected was the update for The Sims 3, which was released back in 2009, writes Game Sports.

The new update for The Sims 3 is designed to fix a problem that prevented new Intel processors from running the game. Some players are also hoping that this system update could be the start of a series of further updates to the game, including new content. However, EA has not made any public statements about this yet.

EA hasn't even publicly announced a technical update for The Sims 3 yet. But even if that's the end of all updates for the game, fans are still excited, especially modders who are still creating original content for the game.

The last update for The Sims 3 was released in November 2015, so the upcoming small “revival” of the game has caused a stir. The thing is that in the newer Sims 4, players lack the detailed settings that were in the old version of Sims 3.

In its heyday, The Sims 3 struggled to run even on high-performance PCs. Constant crashes and errors became commonplace for players who enjoyed the wide range of styling options for hair, clothes, nails, and even furniture using a custom color palette, where you could create not only your own colors, but also textures.

Such a palette is almost completely absent in The Sims 4 — it can be used to create, for example, pet fur, but not Sims' hair, clothing, furniture, walls, and floors.

Sims 4 players have been complaining about this issue for years, so the latest update to The Sims 3 will allow nostalgic gamers to relive the good old days.

It is unknown whether EA will release any more updates for The Sims 3, but it is likely that if they do — they will concern the stability of the game, rather than new content.
