The Rings of Power: This Word Spoken by Sauron & Míriel Teases the One Ring

On Prime Video, season 2 of The Rings of Power is in full swing. On Thursday, September 19, the sixth episode of the Amazon blockbuster was finally available for streaming, with its share of new features. One word, in particular, came up twice, and its meaning is not insignificant for fans of The Lord of the Rings!

The first episodes of season 2 of The Rings of Power contain Lord of the Rings easter eggs, and the latest one is not the least. The plot sees Annatar, who is none other than Sauron in disguise, persuade Celebrimbor to forge seven rings for the dwarves and three for the elves, and nine more for men. While in Peter Jackson's films, there was only one artifact,The plurality of those in the series can be confusing. How will we go from so many bewitched jewels to just one, which will rule them all? An answer will be brought to us in the next episodes, of which a word, repeated twice in episode 6, gives us a taste. This word is “precious”, an adjective that Gollum, who will soon be back in a film, has inundated us with in the Lord of the Rings trilogy!

A theory that is at least coherent… Later, the word is uttered by Míriel, before facing the judgment of the Valar, when she asks Elendil to stay around and be “a man who will defend all that is precious“. A prayer that, as we know, will not be answered.
