After the tearful finale of season 2 of Rings of Power, it's time to take stock of the races. Is the audience for these eight episodes something to celebrate on Prime Video, or are the numbers catastrophic? It turns out that despite mixed reviews from viewers and critics, the Amazon series is on a roll.
Prime Video's Bigwigs Proud of Rings of Power
Although some of the story arcs were, according to viewers, downright uninteresting (the Stranger and the Hobbits taking the cake), they were still at the rendezvous of this season 2 of The Rings of Power. The Prime Video series cost the streaming platform a fortune, with $250 million having been paid to acquire the rights to the franchise from the Tolkien Estate. An exorbitant initial outlay, to which is added the expensive production of the episodes. To be profitable, the conquest of Middle-earth by the terrible Sauron must bring the public together: is this the case? According to the interview granted to Variety by Kelly Day, vice-president of international for Prime Video and her colleague Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, the answer is yes.
200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000[Salke] Obviously, the promotion and all that is on a different level [than Season 1]. But that being said, at this point 55 million people have engaged since Season 2 launched. And if you look at the long term – what this company is doing with this type of asset, it’s a long term investment in the franchise – there are well over 150 million people watching the show and engaging with it. So that seems very good to me. I think everybody does. […] We’ll keep the show going as long as we see consumers loving it and watching it. It’s a business. We need a lot of people coming. And there are a lot of people, so there’s no debate about whether we’ll keep the show going.
À If we believe these reassuring statements, there is no doubt: Amazon will soon announce a season 3 of Rings of Power. Not sure, however, that the audience of the Prime Video series shares the enthusiasm of the producers… And you, what do you think?
