Peacemaker season 2: the first official image unleashes fans

Last August, we shared this statement from one of the stars of Peacemaker, who then confirmed his return in the long-awaited season 2. And while many are eager to discover the continuation of the adventures of John Cena's Christopher Smith, the famous director James Gunn recently shared a first image of the next season of the HBO series, teasing the arrival of a brand new character.

James Gunn Teases New Character for Peacemaker Season 2

Launching in January 2022 on HBO Max (now known as Max), the Peacemaker series expanded the DC cinematic universe by focusing on a character from the 2021 film The Suicide Squad. This spin-off of James Gunn's film is therefore centered on the Peacemaker (aka Christopher Smith) played by John Cena, who won over many fans thanks to his performance in the title role.

This is why many are eagerly awaiting season 2 of the HBO series, whose release is normally scheduled after that of Gunn's next Superman film in July 2025. But to help us be patient, the American director has still given us a brief preview of the new season.

Indeed, it was on X/Twitter that Gunn recently shared a mysterious image from the sequel to Peacemaker. It shows a man from behind standing in front of a campfire, in what appears to be a dark forest. The image in question is accompanied by the following message: “Who might this be?”

This is more than enough to provoke strong reactions from fans, who have rushed to speculate on the identity of this character. Among the multitude of theories about him, we can see that two names stand out.

The first is Apache Chief, a Native American superhero with the ability to considerably increase his size. The second is none other than Long Shadow, a former member of the Ultimen. The latter is largely inspired by Apache Chief, as is Manitou Raven, who is also among the suggestions of some fans. Others think that them that it could be a supervillain named Black Bison,
