Redmi released a series smartphone K70 last November, so we can expect the K80 series to be unveiled around the same time this year. We've been hearing about possible upgrades for these new phones for a while now. A report earlier this week revealed that the Redmi K80 Pro will feature some impressive upgrades, including the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, a 2K display and a 50MP telephoto lens.
Today's leak from Digital Chat Station confirms those rumors, adding that the K80 Pro will also support 120W fast charging, which will complement the previously announced 5,500mAh battery. The leak further hints that the phone will have a metal frame and a glass back with a new coating for a more premium look and feel.
Standard Redmi K80 will also not lag behind in performance. Early reports suggest that it will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, keeping it competitive in the high-end segment.
Both the Pro and standard models are rumored to sport a flat 2K OLED display with a frequency of 120Hz refresh rate. The main difference may be in the camera department, the K80 Pro may have a dedicated telephoto lens that the standard K80 may lack.
While launch details remain unconfirmed, it looks like the Xiaomi 15 series will be the first to hit the market with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, which is rumored to be launched in October. The Redmi K80 series is expected to launch sometime in November. It will be an alternative for those looking for a flagship experience without the likely higher price of the Xiaomi 15 series.
