The Prime Minister of Romania commented on the fall of another Russian UAV on the territory of the country

Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Çolacu assured that the country's air force had previously monitored the course of the drone, which eventually fell on the Romanian bank of the Danube, and that it did not pose a threat to citizens.

At a briefing, Çolak was asked whether the Romanian authorities were taking any additional measures after the debris of a Russian UAV, one of those used by Russia to attack Ukrainian ports on the Danube, fell in the area of ​​the village of Plauru (on the Romanian bank of the Danube opposite Izmail).

The Prime Minister replied that there were no “security problems” for Romanian citizens during this incident.

“The course of this drone was known at around 01:55, F-16 fighters were scrambled. There were no problems – it was tracked long before it flew into Romanian territory. I saw that the Ministry of Defense provided a clarification in its statement… Very “It is likely that after the examination it will be found out that it (the UAV) was shot down by Ukrainian anti-aircraft guns,” – said Marcel Ciolacu.

Recall that on the night of January 17, residents of Romanian villages above the Danube received an air alert due to an attack by Russian UAVs on Ukrainian ports above the Danube.

In the morning, the Romanian Ministry of Defense reported that fighter jets were scrambled in connection with this and that the place where the UAV probably crashed was discovered in the area opposite the Ukrainian city of Izmail.

This is the latest in a series of similar cases during the years of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.
