Price on flagship smartphones may grow due to expensive processors

In October, Qualcomm and MediaTek will present their new flagship processors for smartphones – Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400. According to PhoneArena, the purchase price of these chips for smartphone manufacturers will increase significantly, which in turn will affect the final price of devices for consumers.

What we know

Before that, it was already reported about a possible price increase for smartphone components, including Qualcomm and MediaTek processors . Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted a 25-30% increase in the cost of key components, while insider Ice Universe reported a 20.68% price increase for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

What the experts think

< p class="p1">According to our experts, smartphone manufacturers compensate for the increase in the cost of components by increasing the price of devices, which will primarily affect flagship models. The increase in prices can be proportional to the increase in costs.
