The Last of Us: season 2 is finally revealed

In January 2023, a few months after the immense success of the first season of House of the Dragon, HBO scored a big hit with the launch of the series The Last of Us, adapted from Naughty Dog's video game masterpiece released in 2013 on PlayStation 3. Developed by Neil Druckmann, the director of the two video games, and Craig Mazin – who had shown the full extent of his talent with the series Chernobyl-, the series The Last of Us is carried by the duo Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones, His Dark Materials). The first season was received rather warmly, even if some spectators criticized the too low number of infected.

This Thursday, September 26, 2024, on the occasion of Last of Us Day – in reference to the anniversary of the outbreak of the Cordyceps pandemic in the game's lore -, HBO unveiled the first trailer for season 2 of the series.

With the song Future Days by Pearl Jam playing in the background– which Joel Miller sings in a flashback scene from The Last of Us Part II -, the trailer seems quite faithful to the events of the second game in the saga. Fans of the game will recognize many iconic characters, including Abbey, Dina, Isaac and Jesse. While emotion will of course be there, as players know, this season 2 should probably give a large part to action, with scenes even more violent than season 1. In addition, this first trailer shows us some of the factions that will be at the heart of season 2, such as the WLF and the Seraphites.

Announced for 2025, without further details, season 2The Last of Usjoins an extremely busy schedule for HBO, since the series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the second spin-off of Game of Thrones, as well as Welcome to Derry – a prequel to the horror novel Ça by Stephen King, are also expected. We can't wait. In the meantime, don't hesitate to tell us what you think of these first images in the comments section. And if you're interested in the subject, we recommend you discover this measure that HBO has taken because of the madness of fans of The Last of Us
