The Japanese introduced the cutest robot in the world for those who do not want responsibility for animals

If you have always dreamed of a pet, but still do not have one due to busyness or allergies, then Moflin – perfect option for you. This tiny robot that fits in the palm of your hand is powered by artificial intelligence and can give you some of the comfort and care you've been dreaming of.

What is Moflin

This technology was actually introduced back in 2021 at CES, but was later forgotten about. Now another company, Casio, has decided to resurrect it and put it on the market. Orders are already being accepted at a price of 59,400 Japanese yen, which is currently equal to about 16,400 hryvnias.

Moflin, originally developed by startup Vanguard Industries, is meant to work as an emotional support pet – you can stroke it, play with it, and get different reactions in return, because the robot can move its head, following you with its eyes and reacting to your actions.

The creators say that each robot has its own individuality, can change its mood depending on the situation and will eventually form attachments to people. He reacts not only to hugs. You can also talk to him and he will respond with movements and cute sounds. This interaction will help shape his character.

Moflin has the ability to learn and his personality will develop depending on how he is treated are treated,
– says Masahiko Yamanaka, one of the developers, in a promotional video.

The robot is Bluetooth-enabled, so it can connect to an app, and it charges in a small socket to keep the illusion of being a real pet. When it is charging, it simply “falls asleep”. The fur comes off if you need to wash it.

Vanguard ran successful Kickstarter and Indiegogo campaigns for Moflin in 2020, but didn't start shipping robots to backers until late 2023. Now manufactured and distributed by Casio, they are looking to scale the technology.

The Moflin will be available in gray and white. It is expected to be delivered after November 7th. Nothing is known about the release outside of Japan yet.
