The iPhone 18 Pro smartphone will receive the advanced A20 Pro chip

According to rumors, Apple's new A20 Pro chip will be used in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max and will be mass-produced using a 2nm process. However, the use of advanced technology can lead to a significant increase in the cost per chip. New estimates point to an increase in cost from $50 to $85 per unit. This price seems very low for a next-generation chipset that will be mass-produced on a 2nm process.

What is known

Compared to previous generations of chips from Apple, the A17 Pro was priced at $130 per unit, and the A16 Bionic – about $110. So the question is why the new chip will cost so cheap. This raises doubts about the reliability of the new estimates. Perhaps the reason lies in the reduction of costs for a new technical process or in the desire of Apple to increase the attractiveness of its devices by reducing their price.

However, it should be remembered that these are just rumors and cannot be relied on completely. The price and other specifications of the new chip from Apple can be announced only after its official launch. In addition, it is worth considering that chips are not the only factor that shapes the final cost of the device.
