A senior Israeli official suggested that the war Israel's fight with Hamas in the Gaza Strip will last until the end of the year.
The statement by the head of the Israeli National Security Council, Tzahi Hanegbi, came amid calls for a ceasefire.
"We may have another seven months ahead of us military operations in order to consolidate the successes and achieve the destruction of the power and military potential of Hamas,” – Hanegbi said on Wednesday, May 30, in an interview with Israeli public radio, The Times of Israel reports.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during a visit to Moldova, said that Israel should "as soon as possible" develop a post-war plan and that the absence of such a plan could lead to chaos.
"I think this emphasizes the need to have a plan for the future, because without a plan for the future there will be no future,– Blinken told reporters. – Otherwise, Hamas will remain at the helm, which is unacceptable. Or we will get chaos, lawlessness and vacuum.”.
