In the state of Arizona (USA), registration has begun for the first public online school, Unbound Academy, which will teach entirely using artificial intelligence. For the first time, such a unique pedagogical approach was tested in private schools in Texas and Florida. «Osvitoria» tells about the new type of teaching with reference to Edweek.
Unbound Academy will use the following platforms: edtech, IXL and Khan Academy. Students will use interactive AI-based platforms that constantly adapt to their individual pace and learning style.
The founders point out that artificial intelligence will adapt to the coding student: reinforcing learning where students are successful, and softening if the student is not learning the material. The goal of such a personal approach is fine-tuned personalization: for example, so that a 5th-grade student can read at an 8th-grade level and at the same time master a 3rd-grade math program.
Live teachers in this educational institution will perform the role of mentors, while not teaching any subject. Teachers will be “qualified guides” who will monitor the progress of each student. And the academic program will be taught by artificial intelligence.
Classes will last up to two hours a day. Students will spend the rest of their time on «seminars on life skills»:
So far, the online school is aimed at students in grades four through eight. Later, the school management plans to expand the program, starting from kindergarten to the 3rd grade. In the first academic year, Unbound Academy plans to enroll approximately 200 students.
