After more than 15 months of negotiations and an intensification of talks in the last three weeks, the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec (FIQ) finally reached an agreement with the government of Quebec on the renewal of collective agreements.

This proposed agreement will be presented to the FIQ union representatives during its federal council which is to take place from Tuesday until Thursday. If it is accepted, it will be submitted to the members who will be able to decide on its adoption within the framework of a referendum vote.

The president of the FIQ, Julie Bouchard, declares that after 16 months of negotiations, it will be up to the members to evaluate the work done at the negotiating table.

A few days ago, Ms. Bouchard reported that the FIQ was in a negotiation blitz and that the union hoped to receive a proposal for an agreement in principle very soon.

The FIQ was not part of the common inter-union front which represented 420,000 workers in the public health and education sectors, and whose leaders of the CSN, CSQ, l' APTS and the FTQ reached agreements with the Quebec government after the holidays.
