The EU wants to attract 200 billion euros to the development of AI

The European Commission announced the launch of the InvestAI initiative, aimed at attracting 200 billion euros in investments in artificial intelligence.

This was reported by the press service of the European Commission, reports “European Pravda”.

The launch of the initiative was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at the summit in Paris.

The InvestAI program, in particular, provides for the creation of a €20 billion fund to build so-called AI gigafactories – infrastructure to train the most complex AI models using powerful chips.

“We want AI to be a force for good and growth. To do this, we are using our own European approach, based on openness, cooperation and great talent. But our approach still needs to be strengthened. That is why, together with our Member States and partners, we are mobilizing unprecedented capital through InvestAI”, – said von der Leyen.

This will allow European experts to develop cutting-edge models, “necessary to transform Europe into an AI continent,” she said.

The European Commission will also create a European AI Research Council, where Europe can pool resources and explore how it can use the untapped potential of data to support AI and other technologies.

Later this year, the “Apply AI” initiative will be launched to promote the industrial deployment of artificial intelligence in key sectors.

It was also reported that the UK and the US have not signed the international agreement on artificial intelligence (AI) adopted at global summit in Paris.

Last year it became known that the intelligence agencies of the United Kingdom want to create a separate “laboratory” that would analyze cyber threats and threats associated with the use of artificial intelligence.
