The EU is talking about Hungary as an “assistant” to the Russians

Two Dutch opposition parties, D66 and CDA, have proposed temporarily excluding Hungary from the Schengen area over concerns that the country is allowing too many Russians to enter without proper checks.

As reported by  NOS, this poses a security risk to the EU, as such Russians could use it for espionage or sabotage when travelling to other EU countries.

MPs from these parties have called on the Dutch Prime Minister to initiate proceedings to suspend Hungary's membership in the Schengen area. This would lead to the resumption of passport controls at the borders with Hungary, which would limit the free movement of people and goods.

The D66 party claims that Hungary's immigration policy facilitates the infiltration of Russian agents, which poses a security risk to the EU. They also drew attention to Hungary's recent decision to simplify entry for Russians and Belarusians following Prime Minister Viktor Orban's visit to Moscow, which has raised concerns in the European Commission.
