The court punished the administrator of the Viber group for distributing summonses in the Lviv region

The Sokalskyi District Court of Lviv region sentenced Lviv native Yuriy Berezhanskyi for creating and administering a channel about places where summonses are distributed in the Viber messenger. The man was found guilty of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and was given a suspended sentence.

According to the case file, in March 2023, while in Sokal, Yurii Berezhanskyi created a group in the Viber messenger, in which its members spread information about mobilization events. The accused followed the messages of users in the chat, as well as personally distributed to a large number of people information about the dates and places where the military personnel of the district units of the TCC carried out alerting events.

In particular, in the mentioned chat, Yurii Berezhanskyy distributed messages obtained as a result of personal observation, as well as from other Internet sources, with the following content: «New bus station clean», «Military the bus was on Tchaikovsky, », », » Three patrol cars are now on Sokal. They stop selectively, » Chh near the bazaar, three with folders, handing them out», », » Police in Knyazhy towards Bodyachev», » Black Opel Perespa, military» etc.

According to the investigation, in the period from the beginning of March 2023 to August 2024, the mentioned group posted from three to 10 messages on Viber every day with information about the time and place of service of summonses by military personnel of district units of the TCC, which made it possible persons of draft age to avoid receiving summonses in these places, and as a result, created prerequisites for evading their military service obligation.

The accused admitted his guilt in court and repented.

Judge Lidia Farina found Yuriy Berezhanskyi guilty of obstructing the legal activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and sentenced him to five years in prison. At the same time, a court verdict released him from the main punishment, setting a one-year probationary period. The verdict can still be appealed.
