The domestic self-propelled artillery system “Bogdana” proved to be more accurate even than the German PzH 2000. According to its tactical and technical characteristics, the “Bogdana” has a firing range of up to 42 km with a conventional projectile and up to 60 km – active-reactive.
“Bogdana” is significantly more accurate than the Soviet self-propelled gun “Pion”. This is reported by 24 Channel with reference to Defence Express.
As reported by ArmyInform, this data was provided by the soldiers of the 48th artillery brigade, which uses “Bogdana”, created at the “Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Tool Plant” (NAUDI). The report notes that the installation is guaranteed to hit the target on the second attempt. Previously, such results of this foreign combat vehicle were not mentioned anywhere.
During the fighting in the Donetsk region, “Bogdana” effectively destroyed armored vehicles, ammunition depots, enemy fortifications and even command posts at a distance of about 30 km.
Reference: 2S22 “Bogdana” – a wheeled 155-millimeter self-propelled artillery mount. Its development started back in 2018. This is the first domestic self-propelled gun manufactured in accordance with NATO standards. It is capable of hitting targets at distances from 780 meters to 42 kilometers with a conventional projectile and up to 60 kilometers – with an active-reactive projectile. The vehicle's range reaches 800 km on the highway and 300 km over rough terrain, maximum speed – 80 km/h, combat weight – 28 tons.
“Bogdana” is characterized by high survivability. One mount withstood the hit of five kamikaze drones. It is technically capable of withstanding an anti-tank mine blast. An example is also given that one of them withstood shelling by 203-millimeter cluster shells from the “Pions”. Despite the damage, the installation retains combat capability, and the crew remains unharmed.
For protection at positions, electronic warfare means, camouflage, anti-drone nets, and fire cover are used. The algorithm of actions during the battle includes rapid deployment, aiming at the target, fire adjustment, firing and operational change of position.
It is noted that there is already one “Bogdana”, which has a firing range of 3 thousand rounds, other self-propelled guns in the brigade have already fired over 2 thousand rounds.
The most common malfunctions of the “Bogdana” are gun jamming, replacement of operating rings on the gun and “hanging” of electronics. Repair work is carried out by representatives of the manufacturing plant, it only needs to be delivered to a safe place.
