The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive French kamikaze drones: the Defense Express edition revealed what kind of weapon they are

The defense plans of France until 2030 provide for their army to receive only 1,800 drones- kamikaze for own troops.

On October 16, French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced the transfer of his country's production of kamikaze drones to the Armed Forces in the coming weeks. We are talking about UAVs from the Delair manufacturer, which have successfully passed all the tests and are to be used by the French army. , to be publicly presented this summer. According to analysts, these will be the first attack UAVs from France. Paris itself admitted that this segment of their weapons is in the “phase of catch-up development”.

Experts have confirmed that the capabilities of Colibri can hardly be called revolutionary. It can stay in the air for 45 minutes. The combat unit of the UAV is 2.3 kg, and the communication range is up to 25 km.

This drone can hit targets and fly without satellite navigation at any time of the day. The warhead weighing 2.3 kg with ready-made striking elements has an aerial detonation mode.

“Therefore, it may not be surprising that at this stage the French military considers kamikaze drones only as an addition to classic artillery, such as those CAESAR self-propelled guns. Obviously, since we are talking about the assessment of the “supplementary” role of kamikaze drones in modern warfare, then they are based on characteristics that, to put it mildly, may not look impressive at all,” Defense Express notes.

Analysts add that another drone from Delair – DT46 is worthy of attention. Its starting weight is 25 kg with the ability to carry up to 5 kg of payload. There is also DT26, weighing 17 kg and a flight range from 30 to 50 kilometers. At the same time, it should be understood that France's defense plans until 2030 envisage their army receiving only 1,800 kamikaze drones for their own troops.
