This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture of the Novosibirsk Region Evgeny Leshchenko, reports the propaganda TASS.

According to him, the project is focused on supplies in Siberia and abroad. The minister “is not yet clear” when the enterprise will reach its design capacity, because difficulties have arisen with the supply of technological equipment.

“It is all imported and is subject to sanctions restrictions,” — stated the Russian minister.

For its work, the company uses potatoes grown in the regions of Siberia, Leshchenko noted. The plant's capacity is now about 60 thousand tons.

The minister clarified that the plant will produce snacks and salty snacks. The only brand of chips listed on the Russian PepsiCo website, — this is Lay's, which is also present in Ukraine.

Construction of the plant began on the territory of the industrial logistics park of the Novosibirsk region in the fall of 2020. Initially, it was planned to launch the first stages of the project in 2021, but the deadline was postponed. Investments in this plant were estimated at more than 12 billion rubles.

Shortly after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, in March 2022, PepsiCo announced the cessation of beverage sales, investments and advertising activities in Russia. However, this did not stop the construction of the plant near Novosibirsk from continuing.
