The American and British magazine about computer games PC Gamer published its traditional annual selection of the hundred best games, selected based on a survey of 30 editors and authors of the publication.

As the journalists noted, the creation of such a rating required a lot of time and discussions, because more than 120,000 games are presented on Steam alone.

Contenders are selected based on quality, importance (impact on other games and the world at large), appeal (ability to hold the attention of the gaming community), and replayability (how accessible the game is to modern computers).

This year's list includes a lot of games released in the 2020s (30% of the list) and only three games released in the 1990s (Doom, Thief: The Dark Project, and Planescape: Torment) .

Among video game developers, Valve is represented the most on the list. Five of the company's games were included in the rating: Half-Life 2, Portal, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike 2, Left 4 Dead 2. As for genres, the authors of the rating especially noted role-playing games. Three games of this genre won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in the rating, and in total there are five such games in the top ten.

The following made it to the top 10 of the rating:
