TF1 cancels The Batman for this excellent reason

A little earlier this weekend, we revealed to you that TF1 had initially planned to broadcast The Batman on the evening of Sunday, October 6, 2024, good news for those who wanted to get back into the swing of things with the release of the new series The Penguin. But we recently learned that the channel has finally decided to cancel the Matt Reeves feature film, replacing the DC superhero film with a cult film following the death of this star of French cinema.

TF1 changes its plans for the Sunday evening movie

Launched on September 20th in our country on Max, the HBO streaming platform, the new series The Penguin was awaited by many fans, since it is a spin-off of the film The Batmanby Matt Reeves. This new spin-off series focuses not on Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne, but on one of the Dark Knight's most iconic enemies, namely the Penguin.

This marks the return of Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, who was first seen in the 2022 film. The Penguin takes place one week after the events of The Batman, while Gotham City is still in chaos following the actions of the Riddler, who flooded the city by blowing up the dikes surrounding it.

And while many were delighted to be entitled to a little booster shot thanks to the broadcast of Matt Reeves' film, normally scheduled for tonight at 9:10 p.m. on TF1,it seems that the channel has decided to change its plans following the death of a major star of French cinema.

Indeed, we learned a few days ago that Michel Blanc, known among other things for his role as Jean-Claude Dusse in Les Bronzés, died at the age of 72. TF1 has therefore decided to cancel The Batman and replace it with the cult film from 1978 bringing together the entire famous troupe of the Splendid and thus paying tribute to the late French actor.

And for more content on Michel Blanc, here is our selection of the best lines from the French actor.
