After more than 15 years of efforts, the elected officials of Témiscouata learned this week that Quebec will build a new police station in their MRC.

During the tabling the provincial budget on Tuesday, Quebec included this project in its infrastructure plan for the next 10 years. Planning for this project, estimated to be worth more than $20M, will begin in the coming weeks.

The current premises, located near Highway 85, in the Notre-Dame-du-Lac sector, are considered dilapidated.

Serge Pelletier, prefect of the MRC of Témiscouata

Serge Pelletier , third prefect of the MRC to work on this project, is delighted with this decision. He hopes the work can begin quickly. Various meetings are planned in the near future to determine what the next steps in the project will be.

We would like to offer our help to Quebec so that this project does not take five years to complete!

The prefect of the MRC of Témiscouata believes that the new premises of the Sûreté du Québec should see the light of day very close to the current offices. On the other hand, for the moment, no decision has yet been taken by the government.
