The US has unveiled the USS Arkansas nuclear submarine, which will become one of the most modern platforms in the submarine fleet. The Virginia-class boat is designed using advanced technologies that provide stealth, high maneuverability and powerful combat potential, writes Army Recognition.
The USS Arkansas is equipped with a General Electric S9G nuclear reactor, capable of operating for 33 years without refueling. This allows the boat to carry out long-term missions in remote regions. To ensure stealth, the submarine has a hydroacoustically concealed jet propulsion system that reduces the acoustic signature, which is critical for operations in dangerous waters.
The boat's strike capabilities include vertical launchers for Tomahawk cruise missiles and Virginia Payload Modules, which add 40 missiles for attacks on land targets. Also on board are MK-48 ADCAP torpedoes, capable of effectively hitting underwater and surface targets thanks to advanced guidance systems.
USS Arkansas supports special operations, including being equipped with an airlock chamber for the deployment of Navy SEAL units and unmanned underwater vehicles. These functions allow the submarine to perform reconnaissance, surveillance, and mine countermeasures.
The boat is an important element in ensuring US multi-domain operations, demonstrating the country's readiness to meet the challenges of modern military confrontation.
