I don't know where I managed to sin so much that now I have to watch my own daughter ruin her life.

She got involved with a married man who has been pestering her for four years now, telling her that when my daughter grows up, he and his wife will get divorced, and then they will get married and everything will be fine.

My Ola believes him, protects him. She is twenty-seven now, a young, beautiful girl. She has her own apartment and a job, but she has no luck with men. She is too soft and trusting, which is why she suffers all the time.

I don't know why she attracts all kinds of scoundrels. Her first great love happened at university. A boy from somewhere in the interior of the country started courting her. He did it beautifully. He read her poems, played the guitar and looked at her with admiration. Ola simply melted under his gaze. I didn't like her young man. After that incident, Ola somehow closed herself off from everyone, even me. It was only after some time that I found out that she had started a new affair. My daughter was no longer living with us, explaining that her apartment was closer to work, but we didn't insist; after all, she wasn't fifteen anymore. But during one of our meetings, I noticed that she was talking on the phone to someone most of the time, with a smile playing on her face.

I began to ask her questions cautiously, and my daughter told me that she had started a relationship with a man. The man was five years older, not from the area, and came on long business trips. At first, I didn't like it, I suspected that my daughter's lover was playing both sides. As it turned out later, it was true, but at the time my daughter convinced me that he simply couldn't find a normal job here, and his upbringing didn't allow him to hang around his girlfriend's neck.

He claims that he's waiting for his daughter to grow up a bit, become stronger, and then he'll be able to get a divorce and lead Ola down the aisle. I think that excuses like that are as old as time. How can anyone believe them?
