Taken from real life. “A new neighbor wanted to introduce a new order”: He quickly realized that it wouldn't work out for him

Our neighbors have changed before our eyes. Instead of quiet retirees, who are nowhere to be seen or heard from, a young and enterprising man has appeared.

A young woman comes to him. They are both thirty years old. And they do not fit into our close-knit group of neighbors. A few days after moving in, the neighbor came to see me. I now live in apartment fifty-seven. I'm slowly getting to know everyone here — the young man babbled — Everyone's so quiet and unsociable. It's like a crypt!”

Yes, our building is mostly inhabited by retirees. Everyone is happy with everything. Adrian complained that the house needed to be given a new lease of life. The panels were depressing. But he only had enough money for this apartment. So he had a ton of ideas: rearranging the furniture, planting flower beds, planting apple trees in the yard, starting a music group with the neighbors. It was just sad, sad! We missed such an enthusiast.

Everything in our house is wonderful – the entrances are clean and bright, the yard is cleaned on time, decent people live there. But Adrian had to complain. A week later he rang the doorbell, smiling from ear to ear. And again with an interesting suggestion: “Let's beautify the whole entrance a little. The numbers on the doors to the apartments are different, so we have to make the numbers in the same style. I have already chosen a design: gold with black inserts. Stylish and tasteful. What do you think about it?”

I immediately refused to change the numbers on the doors. I am completely satisfied with them. What's more, they are very expensive for me. My youngest son carved them when he was at school. The wood is of good quality and varnished. The new neighbor was a little amused by my words. He started saying that we were stuck in the last century and that soon the panels would be covered in moss.

I didn't care. Finally I told him that if something happened to my apartment number, I wouldn't be happy. Other neighbors were also not happy with Adrian's overly active behavior. He told one of the neighbors to replace her door because it was scratched and annoying him. He suggested to another tenant that he hang the mailbox higher, because according to Feng Shui it would bring joy to the house.

People in our building are calm, but everyone has their limits. My patience was slowly wearing thin. I caught this enthusiast on the ground floor, where he was painting the railing.

-Stop it! If you are not happy with something in the house, you should report all your suggestions to our president. He is a nice man, he will do everything in a reasonable way – I suggested, blocking the railing with my hand.

-Oh, I have been to him ten times – Adrian replied, trying to approach the railing with a can of paint. – Of course, he listened to me, but I did not get any reaction.

I wanted to stop him from bombarding me with absurd ideas. I warned him that they didn't like arbitrariness here. Especially since there are cameras at the entrance, we'll see, and if he does something against the law, he'll be arrested for hooliganism immediately.

Adrian made a few more attempts to convince me, but somehow not very persistently. A few weeks later, new people moved into his apartment. They secretly told me that their predecessor was now renting an apartment in a new building, and this one was renting to them. I'm even glad. No one will mess with our heads anymore. We manage without golden numbers on the doors. The most important thing is to surround yourself with good people.
