The Swedish side will help Latvia with the investigation into the damage to an underwater cable in the Baltic Sea on Sunday, January 26.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson wrote about this on the social network X.
«There is information that at least one data transmission cable between Sweden and Latvia was damaged in the Baltic Sea. Sweden, Latvia and NATO are closely cooperating on this issue. Sweden will facilitate the investigation of the incident by providing appropriate facilities, he said.
According to Kristersson, he has been in contact with Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silinja throughout the day.
As reported by Ukrinform, an underwater fiber-optic cable of the state-owned joint-stock company «Latvian State Radio and Television Centre» (LVRTC) was damaged in the Baltic Sea. The transmission monitoring system recorded interruptions in data transmission in the Ventspils – Gotland (Sweden) section.
