Suspects in arson of military vehicles and relay cabinets detained in two regions

Five people were detained in Kyiv and Volyn regions who set fire to military vehicles and relay cabinets for a cash reward. The suspects filmed their actions to report to the “curators”.

The Kyiv City and Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Offices reported suspicions to five men who set fire to relay cabinets and military vehicles, writes UNN with reference to the National Police of Ukraine.

Details

According to the investigation, a Kyiv resident received an order via Telegram for a monetary reward to set fire to a relay cabinet near a railway station in the Sviatoshynskyi district of the capital.

He involved two of his acquaintances for his scheme. Arriving at the “object”, they opened the door of the relay cabinet, doused it with fire-starting solution and set it on fire.

One of the suspects filmed the entire process on a mobile phone. The video was later sent to the customer.

In addition, arsonists of military vehicles were also discovered in Volyn.

Two Volyn residents were also looking for “easy money”. In one of the messengers, they were offered to set fire to Ukrainian military vehicles for a monetary reward and were given detailed instructions for this. A mandatory condition for “cooperation” was video recording of the work results, as stated in the message. On December 23, 2024, in Volodymyr, the suspects set fire to a military vehicle by pouring a pre-prepared incendiary mixture over it. They filmed their actions on a mobile phone to report to the “curator”. They have now been detained, and the suspects are being held in preventive measures.
