Support for the British right-wing party fell after its leader's statements about the Russian war against Ukraine

Support for the British right-wing populist Reform UK party, to which Nigel Farage belongs, has fallen ahead of the July 4 election.

This is according to the results of a poll conducted on Thursday, June 27.

The poll was conducted after Farage said that the West provoked Vladimir Putin to start a war in Ukraine, Reuters reports.

According to a BMG Research poll for the newspaper conducted June 24-26, support for the Reform party was 16%, down from its record high of 19% last week.

The Conservative Party, to which British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak belongs, scored 20%.
< br /> The opposition Labor Party (led by Keir Starmer) leads the rest with 42%.

A separate YouGov poll conducted on June 24-25 showed that support for "Reform" fell one point to 17%. Support for the Conservatives and Labor also fell one point to 18% and 36% respectively.

In an interview with the BBC aired last Friday, Farage said he was not retracting his previous claims that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was a consequence of the EU and NATO's eastward expansion.

Farage's remarks drew harsh criticism criticism from across the UK political spectrum, but he reiterated them at campaign events this week.

Declining support for "Reform" could ease political pressure on the Conservatives after Farage's surprise entry into the race began to threaten to divert center-right votes away from Sunak's party.
