A little earlier in the month, we presented you with a selection of Star Wars films and series that you will never see, explaining why these different projects will not be able to come to fruition. A list in which we could notably find the series Landoby Justin Simien, which was not actually completely cancelled, since it was Donald Glover who took over the reins of the project with his brother, in order to make a film out of it, the star having precisely shared his ambitions with this topic recently.
Donald Glover is one of those artists with many hats, which many know but from a different perspective. Indeed, some have discovered him as Childish Gambino or mcDJ for his activities in the world of music, and we owe him several very popular titles such as the singles Redbone or This Is America.
But for others, Glover is best known for his role as Troy Barnes in the series Community. Subsequently, the actor appeared in various and varied projects, notably in animation, having lent his voice to Miles Morales' Spidey in Ultimate Spider-Man, but also to Aaron Davis (aka the Stalker) in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, thus reprising the role he had in Spider-Man: Homecoming. We could also see him in the series Atlanta and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. But what interests us more today, This is of course his role as Lando Calrissian (real name Landonis Balthazar Calrissian) in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
A role that he was initially supposed to reprise in the series dedicated to the famous smuggler that he plays in the 2018 film, thus succeeding the version of Billy Dee Williams discovered in Star Wars, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. But finally, after the departure of Simien who initially officiated as screenwriter and showrunner of the series, it was Donald Glover who took over the torch with his brother Stephen Glover. And in September 2023, we learned that the series project had been abandoned in favor of a film.

But in a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Glover gave some insight into his expectations for the project, including what he wanted to accomplish with Lando.
I just want it to be fun. As a Star Wars fan, I think it's important to have more fun, because it's really hard to have fun right now. It's hard because there's really serious stuff going on and those are the only things that connect us, weirdly, so I understand why things are serious. But I think part of the human experience is that we have a responsibility to have fun. And I feel like we're missing out on fun in that area.
I love Star Wars, but sometimes it's very serious, and sometimes it's way too serious. Everything about the Skywalkers is very serious. I think the best part about Lando is that he's a bad guy, and I think people can relate to him. He's probably the kind of guy who's like, “This war is crazy, I need the money,” which is something that everyone can relate to, so I just want it to be fun.
Whether or not the Lando movie will ever happen, and if so, when, remains to be seen. But one thing is for sure, many Star Wars fans are more than eager to see Glover back in the shoes of the famous smuggler, especially since his interpretation of the character in Solo was very well received by most.
