Indeed, in the comic book entitled Star Wars: Battle of Jakku – Insurgency Rising, we can discover the events that occurred before those of Return of the Jedi. In this story, we see Leia Organa, Kylo Ren's mother, who recovers the helmet of Darth Vader, her father, after being cremated.

By recovering this object, Leia makes Vader's helmet more than just an artifact or a macabre trophy for Kylo Ren to keep. It becomes a family heirloom. The discovery of the helmet shows that the history surrounding it is deeper than many fans imagined.

Especially since the novel Bloodline by Claudia Grey introduced us to the complicated relationship that existed between Anakin and Leia.
