Spider-Man: His most intense fight was against this enemy that no one expected

Tom Holland will return to our screens through a fourth solo in 2026. A new Spider-Man whose plot is still unknown, but which seems to take place between the next two Avengers films. It is therefore possible that Spider-Man will cross paths with Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, even if his adventures are supposed to be confined to his favorite neighborhood. In the meantime, the web-slinger is making his mark at Marvel Comics, with his most intense fight at this day.

A legendary fight between Spider-Man and Tombstone

Rather than waiting for the release of Spider-Man 4In 2026, you might as well turn to Marvel Comics to get your fill of Peter Parker's adventures. Several series are intertwined, so fans of the character have plenty to choose from. And since 2022, a reboot of The Amazing Spider-Man has given one of Marvel's most popular superheroes a chance to shine. 59 issues have been released so far, with the last one appearing on October 9. A The Amazing Spider-Man #59of high intensity, with a confrontation that has gone down in history. And for good reason, it is one of his most intense fights. Its particularity? It was fought against a villain that we would not expect.

This is in any case what Comicbook, which covered the release of this issue, suggests. The American media focuses on the duel between Tombstone and Spider-Man, estimating in passing that “Spider-Man delivers the fight of his life against Tombstone“. The words are strong, against an antagonist who has not been highlighted as much as others. For those unfamiliar, Tombstone has been chemically altered, giving him superhuman strength, endurance, and durability. To top it all off, his teeth are sharpened to points, for encounters that pack a punch.

Signed Zeb Wells, John Romita Jr, Scott Hanna, Marcio Menyz and Joe Caramagna, this 59th issue follows Tombstone's attempt to murder his own daughter, the main witness in the case that will put him behind bars once and for all. But before he can achieve his goals, Tombstone is stopped by Spider-Man. And the antagonist whose real name is Lonnie Lincoln did not appreciate that. In The Amazing Spider-Man #59, which you can find right here, the confrontation between the two beings with superhuman abilities resumes in earnest.

Tombstone and Spider-Man notably go through the window of a skyscraper, crashing into a car parked below. Both are seriously injured, as evidenced by the pools of blood, the tears in their costumes and their bruises. Few words, more action. The blows rain down and the duel is in full swing. Spider-Man like Tombstone is not there to discuss, and it shows.Spider-Man even manages to break Tombstone's fingers, motivated by the stakes of the fight. Spider-Man is not only there for his life, that of Tombstone's daughter is also at stake.

A fight that takes them into a subway station, for a final high-flying duel. The action continues, and Spider-Man ends up saving in extremis Tombstone from a subway that was passing by. It is Spider-Man who takes the brunt of the shock, fainting after the impact. He ends up regaining consciousness a little later, discovering Tombstone perched above him, a piece of concrete in his hand, ready to finish the fight. But before he fainted, Spider-Man let Tombstone know that he not only saved his daughter, but he saved him as well. According to Spidey, he saved him from the guilt that he would have felt when he killed his own daughter.

Words that hit the mark. Tombstone drops his weapon to the ground and collapses next to Spider-Man. It remains to be seen whether this duel is truly over or whether the two fighters will resume hostilities. But readers will have the answer to this question in the next and final issue. It is with this 60th issue, scheduled for October 30, that Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr. will bid farewell to The Amazing Spider-Man.
