Details about the film “The Color of Pomegranate”:

Serhii Paradzhanov created the film in the genre of a poetic film parable. The work was shot at the film studio “Virmenfilm” in Yerevan. The tape tells about the life of the Armenian poet of the 18th century, Sayat-Nova. In the film, through allegorical images, Paradzhanov showed the poet's childhood, youth, maturity, old age and death. Georgian actress Sofiko Chiaureli played the young poet in the film, Vilen Galustyan played the poet in the monastery.

The restoration of “The Color of Pomegranate” was carried out by the Martin Scorsese Film Fund together with the Cineteca di Bologna. The world premiere of the restored version took place at the 67th Cannes Film Festival in 2014.
