A 38-year-old woman experienced a real nightmare Friday evening in Quebec when her ex-partner allegedly sequestered her in her home and assaulted her with a weapon. The suspect, a 40-year-old man, was arrested by the police.

The alleged events occurred in the Beauport sector. Police were called to the scene around 6:25 p.m. for a case of domestic violence in a residence.

The suspect allegedly showed up at the home of his ex-partner and kidnapped and assaulted her.

The victim would have managed to leave the scene and take refuge in safety with a neighbor, indicated Pierre-Olivier Lévesque, communications officer for the Quebec City Police Department (SPVQ).

On site, the police arrested the suspect. The 40-year-old man was arrested for armed assault, forcible confinement, threats, breach of conditions and possession of narcotics, adds the SPVQ spokesperson, who does not specify what type of weapon was used.< /p>LoadingA year after the fire in Old Montreal, the family of one of the victims demands answers

The victim suffered minor injuries, not to mention the psychological ones, underlines Pierre-Olivier Lévesque.

The man must be met by investigators and could appear Saturday at the Quebec courthouse.
