The Scottish Government will stop using WhatsApp on work phones after the results of an external audit are announced.
He stated this on Tuesday, December 17, “European Truth” reports.
It is stated that all “non-corporate mobile messaging applications” will be removed from the work phones of Scottish government officials from spring 2025.
The ban will apply to all messengers that are not used for official government communication – not only WhatsApp but also Signal and Facebook Messenger.
An audit of the use of messengers was commissioned by the Scottish Government in January 2024 as part of an assessment of the “openness and transparency” of its operations.
It was sparked by criticism of officials, including former First Ministers Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf, due to obscene messages on WhatsApp, which began to be actively used during the coronavirus pandemic.
Some officials, moreover, admitted that they deleted messages written during the pandemic.
Remember, last year in a number of European countries, they began to restrict the use of TikTok for civil servants, military and law enforcement officers due to security risks.
