Scientists have found that five o'clock in the morning is officially the worst part of the day, based on mood, the circadian clock and other factors. At the same time, at 5 o'clock in the evening, most people are most cheerful.

At 5 o'clock in the morning, people report the lowest mood, regardless of when they got up. This was discovered by researchers from the University of Michigan and Dartmouth Medical Institute, the New York Post writes.

According to Benjamin Shapiro, the lead author of the study and a psychiatrist at Dartmouth Health, mood is naturally cyclical: it is lowest in the morning, and in the evening &ndash ; highest, regardless of sleep deprivation.

We found that mood follows a rhythm associated with the body's internal clock, and the influence of this clock increases the longer a person is awake. sleeps, – says senior study author Danny Forger, professor of mathematics at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

The study found that, along with the aforementioned correlation between time and mood, participants' mood worsened the longer they stayed awake.< /p>

Lack of sleep – it's a separate process that further depresses the mood, – explains Shapiro. Therefore, someone who stayed up all night at 5 in the morning should be in an even lower mood than if he had just woken up at 5 in the morning. However, on a typical day, their mood at 5 a.m. would still be lower than in the evening.

Along with the Fitbit analysis, the researchers also periodically asked the students to rate their mood on a scale of 1 to 10. They found that, along with the aforementioned correlation between time and mood, participants' mood worsened the longer they stayed awake.
