Scholz stands in the way of Ukraine's movement towards NATO

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz rejected the possibility of inviting Ukraine to NATO, which is the first point of the “victory plan”, saying that this issue is not on the agenda.

He said this in an interview with ZDF, according to “European Pravda”.

Scholz recalled that NATO made a decision on the prospects for Ukraine's accession at the summits in Vilnius and Washington, and, in his opinion, “there is no need for any new decisions beyond this yet.”

“A country that is at war cannot become a member of NATO. Everyone knows this, there is no disagreement about this. And in NATO, an invitation is usually linked to membership quite quickly,” he added.

Then the German Chancellor stated that a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine requires balanced actions that, on the one hand, guarantee support for Kyiv, and on the other hand, guarantee that this does not turn into a war between Moscow and NATO.

“This is where I express my position very clearly and will not change it,” he added. emphasized Scholz.

Recall that on October 17 in Brussels, Volodymyr Zelensky said that he hopes to convince Chancellor Olaf Scholz about the long-range weapons that are important for Ukraine, as well as support for its invitation to NATO.

Commenting on the presented “victory plan”, one of the points of which is inviting Ukraine to NATO, Scholz noted that there are decisions that he has made, and they “will not change”.
