SBU Detains Sharia Party Follower Who Called for Coup in Ukraine

The Security Service has detained a pro-Russian agitator in Kyiv who called for a violent seizure of power in Ukraine and the assassination of the leaders of our state.

This is reported by the Fourth Studio with reference to the SBU press service.

According to the investigation, the defendant was a follower of the banned Sharia Party and coordinated his subversive activities with representatives of the first «twenty» pro-Kremlin political force.

To spread destructive content, he used his Telegram and YouTube channels, Instagram page, as well as other social networks with a total audience of almost 20 thousand users.

As the investigation established, the defendant received orders to «disperse» certain topics from propagandists controlled by Shariy, who are hiding abroad and conducting information sabotage on behalf of Russian special services.

The corresponding instructions came in the form of «editorial tasks» through anonymous chats in messengers.

During searches of the detainee's apartment, a laptop, a mobile phone, membership cards of the «Sharia» party, pro-Russian literature and drugs were seized.

The forensic linguistic examination initiated by the Security Service confirmed the facts of the person involved's informational and subversive activities in favor of the Kremlin.

Currently, SBU investigators have informed him of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (public calls for a violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or for the seizure of state power, as well as the distribution of materials with calls for such actions).

The issue of additional qualification of the criminal actions of the defendant for the fact of drug possession is also being resolved.

The perpetrator is in custody. He faces imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The complex measures were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General's Office.
