Samsung presented the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition – the thinnest foldable smartphone with a new camera

Samsung recently announced its new flagship foldable smartphone – Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition. This device has become the thinnest and lightest in the series. Interestingly, this smartphone may appear on the Chinese market under the name Samsung Galaxy W25.

The official release of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition is scheduled for October 25 in South Korea. The price of the device will be approximately 2,000 dollars for the version with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of built-in memory. At the start of the sale, only one color will be available – Black Shadow.

The novelty impresses with its dimensions: the thickness is only 10.6 mm, and the weight – 236 grams. It is 1.5 mm thinner and 3 grams lighter than the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6. When unfolded, users will have access to an 8-inch main screen with an aspect ratio of 20:18. The external display has a diagonal of 6.5 inches and an aspect ratio of 21:9. A reinforced aluminum frame is used for durability, and the front and back panels are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Special Edition differs from the regular Z Fold 6 in some technical characteristics. For the first time in the Galaxy Z series, a 200-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization is used. In addition, the smartphone is equipped with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module with autofocus and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. For selfies, there is a 4-megapixel camera under the internal display and a 10-megapixel camera on the external screen.

The heart of the device – processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. The smartphone runs on One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14 and supports Galaxy AI features. The manufacturer guarantees an update to Android 15 in early 2025, and also promises six more operating system updates and seven years of security updates.

Battery with a capacity of 4400 mAh•h supports wired charging with a power of 25 W and wireless – 15 W.
