On the eve of the imminent release of the new Samsung Galaxy S25 flagships, new interesting information about wireless charging has appeared on the network. It seems that the company has abandoned its principles and built in magnets to support the Qi2 standard.
The new technology promises more efficient wireless charging thanks to the integration of magnets that align the smartphone and the charger. Something similar is implemented in MagSafe, which appeared in Apple with the release of the iPhone 12 in 2020.
Today, only one Android smartphone supports the Qi2 standard. This is the HMD Skyline – a parody of Nokia Lumia. It is expected that Samsung's decision to integrate Qi2 into its flagship devices will have a significant impact on the entire Android device market.
According to insiders, all Galaxy S25 series devices will support fast wireless charging up to 15 W, and wired – up to 45 W. But the introduction of magnets will allow you to use Galaxy devices with a huge number of different MagSage accessories – from power banks to car mounts.
Samsung is expected to hold a massive Galaxy Unpacked event in January 2025.
