Russian agents tried to install a GPS beacon on a special vehicle of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine detained two Russian agents in the Kirovohrad region who tried to install a GPS beacon on special transport accompanying columns of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the front.

The attackers planned to monitor the movement of Ukrainian troops in real time. The SBU press service writes.

The operation was carried out with the participation of a 20-year-old unemployed man recruited by the Russian occupiers via Telegram channels. A young man who arrived in the Kirovohrad region collected data on the locations and routes of military columns, and also recruited a minor, whom he promised “quick money”. Under his leadership, the 17-year-old boy tried to install a GPS tracker on a special vehicle of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but was detained by SBU officers.

During the searches, mobile phones with evidence, as well as a GPS beacon, were seized from the detainees. Additionally, it turned out that the agent was recording the location of the Central Military District and official transport of the Ukrainian troops.

The agent was charged with high treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and he faces life imprisonment. The minor defendant is cooperating with the investigation.
