Russia will remain a long-term threat to NATO for years. This is what the supreme commander of NATO forces and the commander of US forces in Europe, General Christopher Cavoli, believes, – reports “Voice of America”.
“I believe that Russia will pose a long-term threat to the Alliance and will create problems for us for years to come,– said Cavoli in his speech at an event at the American think tank “Atlantic Council” May 17.
This military threat and its political, economic and social consequences “will drive the existence of NATO and global security issues for many years to come,” the general adds.
< p>Moscow will implement its plans to expand the army, says the general and points out that the Russian Federation is already developing the military-industrial complex and attracting human resources for this purpose. The Russian army will be large and will be located near the western borders and on the territory of related countries, possibly on the border with NATO, the general predicts.
The general also does not expect a change in the style of power in the Russian Federation. In his opinion, in the coming years Russia will be ruled by the same people or people with similar views.
