Russia sent about 10 thousand newly granted citizenship immigrants to the front after intensifying efforts to force forced military registration among new citizens.
This was announced by the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, reports Interfax .< /p>
According to him, investigators have already “caught more than 30 thousand citizens who received citizenship, but did not want to register with the military, and registered them.”
About 10 “thousands of them have already been sent to the special military operation zone,” Bastrykin said, using language common among Russian officials to describe the war.
He also noted that the immigrants were allegedly sent to serve in rear units building fortifications.
Russian authorities are seeking to avoid a second wave of unpopular mobilization after the conscription of 300,000 Russians in September 2022 caused panic and mass flight from the country. Instead, the authorities are trying to attract people to the army with lucrative contracts.
