On November 28, the Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT) of Romania accused TikTok of favoritism towards independent presidential candidate Calin Georgescu.
The CSAT said that an analysis of the documents revealed attempts at cyberattacks aimed at influencing the integrity of the electoral process.
In its statement, the Council noted that one of the presidential candidates benefited significantly from widespread coverage on TikTok due to the preferential treatment provided by the platform. At the same time, as noted by CSAT, his content was not marked as political, which significantly increased his visibility compared to other candidates, whom TikTok algorithms classified as political.
CSAT has appealed to national security authorities to take the necessary measures to investigate the situation.
