Real Life. “Yes, I Kicked My Grandson Out of My Own Birthday Party”: But There's a Reason

I had to ask my son to take his grandson away from my party.

To be honest, I didn't expect it to end in such a big scandal. My daughter-in-law started getting angry and turning my son against me. It turned out that my birthday was completely ruined.

I only have one son. We live next door to each other, so we meet up often. As soon as my son got married, my daughter-in-law immediately announced she was pregnant. It all happened quickly, but I didn't mind. I even joined the matchmakers, buying an apartment so the kids would have their own roof over their heads.

I want to say right away that I am not a rich man, so it was not easy for me to give away all my savings. My grandson often stayed with me. When Michał turned one, my daughter-in-law decided to go back to work. All the worries related to my grandson fell on me, although I never held it against him. The problem is, however, that no one was ever involved in Michał's upbringing. He is badly brought up and hyperactive. He can run and scream all day long – he can't even watch cartoons in peace.

The whole problem is that Kasia raises him without stress. When he broke my window, my daughter-in-law smiled and said: – Oh, these children… I replaced the window at my own expense. I have asked my son many times to take care of raising the child.

-Mom, we have no money or time, don't make up excuses!

On my birthday, I invited all my relatives and close friends. I invited all my relatives and close friends to the birthday party. Of course, my son and his family were also present. I asked my daughter-in-law to come early to help me set the table. When I entered the kitchen, I saw my grandson tinkering with my cake.

“I'll put candles on it and you won't see a thing,” my daughter-in-law replied. My grandson had been behaving terribly all evening, so there was no chance to talk to the guests in peace. Kasia didn't see anything wrong with that: “Let him have fun. After all, it's a holiday!”

However, on my next birthday, my patience ran out. I decided to celebrate my birthday at a café. You can go wild once in your life, right? However, first I asked my son to let him and his wife come without Michael. There was no entertainment planned for the children, so he might as well stay with the other grandma.

My son and daughter-in-law ignored my request. Michael was screaming, running around the restaurant and knocking over the waiter. Several plates were broken because my grandson deliberately tripped the waiter.

I told my son that he had had enough of this chaos, so he had to take Michael home. My son got upset, saying that the child was just playing, but I was adamant, asking if he would pay for all the damage my son had caused, to which Kajetan responded by claiming that money was more important to me than my own grandson.

My son packed up and left with his wife. Of course, I didn't feel like celebrating anymore – my mood completely deteriorated. My sister comforted me: “Don't blame yourself. Children should just pay more attention to raising their grandchild.” I realize she's right, but I still feel bad.

Now my daughter-in-law will tell everyone what a bad grandmother I am. Why I Can't Live Like a Human Being and Have Normal Family Relationships?
