Real Life. “My Son and Daughter-in-Law Decided I Had to Sell My 3-Bedroom Apartment”: I Need to Help Them Pay Off Their Mortgage

My life, as they say, is not sugar-coated. I have two sons: one seems to be successful, and the other… well, I don't know how that happened.

I raised them the same way my whole life, but they grew up as if they were two different people. The older one is successful. He has everything: a good job, family, wealth. But the younger Patryk… He does nothing: either he lies on the couch or plays on the computer. He can't find a job — you see, he doesn't like anything.

We live together in my three-room apartment. Everything would be fine, but I didn't expect that my oldest son's wife, Anna, a woman who is always dissatisfied with something, would suddenly come up with a new plan. And that's how it all started. One day I was sitting in the kitchen.

The evening was quiet and peaceful. Patryk was drinking tea nearby, not saying a word. Suddenly the phone rang – Radek, the older son.

-Dad, hello! You're home?

-Hello, son. At home, of course, where else would I be?

-Is something wrong?

-No, everything is fine. Ania wants to talk to you. It's important.

I saw that my son was very excited. It turned out that my daughter-in-law had decided that I would sell my apartment to help them pay off the mortgage, and I was going to move into a studio apartment. I couldn't help myself:

-No! It's not up to you to decide where I live or what to do with the apartment. If you decide to take out a mortgage, pay it off like any normal person. I have my own plans for this house and I'm not going to change them because of your debts. I ended the call and felt the blood rush to my temples. Patryk had been sitting there silently the whole time, but I could see in his eyes that he was angry too. I never thought that children could demand your house so brazenly.

Then Radek tried to discuss everything peacefully a few more times, but I stuck to my position. I'm simply shocked by this impudence!

Don't miss: This is the pension that Katarzyna Dowbor gets. She has been paying contributions to ZUS for over 30 years
