Real-life. “My mother-in-law won't leave me alone in her apartment”: She's annoying me even though she invited me over

I got married at 27, which is a significant age. All my friends had long since immersed themselves in the beauty of family life, some of them had already divorced, but I was still waiting.

And finally I got Irek. We quickly realized that we were really in love and started thinking about starting a family. Unfortunately, we didn't have much money. It would be enough for one of three important events: a wedding, a baby, or a house. Since I was going to be thirty in the near future, the baby was our top priority.

Irek also said that his mother invited us to her place: “She has a three-room apartment anyway and doesn't want to take in a tenant, she's afraid of strangers. I wasn't sure if it was a good idea. When we met, my mother-in-law wasn't too happy to see me, and neither was she later. For example, she was clearly disgusted by my cooking, even though I'd always been a good cook.

When I brought gifts – a homemade cream cake – my mother-in-law looked into the containers and, wrinkling her nose, exclaimed: “What a hostess!” And yet we decided to move in with her, save up for a deposit, and then have a proper wedding. In the end, we didn't organize a big ceremony, but got married in a cozy atmosphere, and then we sat together in restaurants.

Sharing my tiny one-room apartment was unrealistic. After moving in, I rented it a year in advance. Later, I regretted it a hundred times, but it was too late – we packed up and moved. I preferred living near my husband. My mother-in-law greeted us warmly, showed us the room, we shared the kitchen and seemed to have sorted everything out. Family life began, which turned into a nightmare for me in the first week. While my husband and I were sorting out bags and boxes (he had rented an apartment before moving in with his mother), my mother-in-law didn't even come to see us. “Hurry up and sort out this mess!” she shook her head as she passed our room. “What a landlady… As soon as I finally put all my things away, some unhealthy movement began on the part of the landlady. When I got home from work, I noticed that everything was somehow wrong.

The towels were folded differently than I folded them after drying, and my husband's shirts were clearly rearranged in the closet. I understood everything immediately because we lived together.

-Mom, I started the conversation as politely and gently as possible — please tell me why you're rearranging our things? Suddenly, it turned out that at the age of almost 28 I had no idea how to properly fold clothes. Instead of embarrassment and apologies, my mother-in-law gave me an angry tirade, then took me to our bedroom and started report:

-Is that how things work, Magda? You have to fold the edge here so it doesn't stick out… – And right in front of me she took out the sweater, unfolded it and folded it again. From that day on, my mother-in-law didn't hesitate to come in, open the wardrobe door and shake her head defiantly, or even move my underwear, for example.

One evening, when I was busy in the kitchen, my mother-in-law was mopping the floor in our room with a groan and a pained expression on her face.

-Leszek will definitely get allergies soon – she explained to me, wiping her forehead – living in such dust. – An hour before this circus, I had cleaned our room to perfection! At that moment I was seriously considering calling the tenant and offering him a refund. In the end I couldn't even complain to my husband. What would I tell him? “Your mother washed our floor, I don't want to live here” – and he wouldn't understand a word of it.

The climax came yesterday. We were fooling around before bed when my mother-in-law rushed into the bedroom. I almost died of embarrassment, I was also very angry.

-What again! – I was indignant from under the blanket.

-What happened? – she pretended to be surprised.

-Nothing happened, why are you rushing in like that!

-This is my apartment! I have the right to go wherever I want, ungrateful thing!

-Mom, stop! – said my husband — You should have knocked!

-You should have taught your wife to clean!

Anyway, I told my husband that either we move out together or I'll rent an apartment myself.

Don't miss: Fire devils recorded over Los Angeles. This phenomenon is terrifying

Take a look: From real life. “My daughter married this man even though I forbade her to”: Now she complains every day that their life is bad
