When I hear the saying: “Children are happiness!”, everything inside me boils.

Not because I don't have any yet. I'm just tired of communicating with my husband's adult daughter from his first marriage.

We've been together for six years and we love each other. Wojtek is 14 years older than me, and when he met me, he had been divorced for several years. Yes, my husband can be jealous sometimes. But he can also be understood – a beautiful, young wife who looks out for him! I am flattered. And everything would be fine, if not for one thing…

The man has a student daughter, Marysia, from his first marriage, a copy of his mother – tall and fat at the age of 19. But Wojtek adores her, as he says himself, she is his “child”. And now this young viper – I call her that without any exaggeration – has decided to ruin my life in the hope that her father will divorce me. Maria visits us at least once a week, sometimes more often. And if for the first few years she simply came and pretended not to notice me – she only talked to her father, now this artist has adopted a new strategy. For example, if I offer her something to eat, she refuses or simply does not respond, and as soon as my husband comes home from work, she runs to him complaining that I did not give her dinner because I think she is fat.

At such moments, I am speechless with indignation. I stand there gasping for air like a fish! Recently, Maria started coming to my work at the yoga studio. She would come in, greet me through clenched teeth, and discuss something with the receptionist at the desk. Or she would sit and read brochures. I thought: what, a girl interested in sports, I have influence! How naive I was: this was preparation for another operation that was supposed to denigrate me in the eyes of my husband, and what a way she came up with!

During Christmas, Maria came to visit, received a present from her father and me, sat down at the table, and even smiled – unheard of! At some point after dinner she turned to her dad and said,

-Dad, you've been neglecting your fitness routine for the past year. Why are you resting, do you think the extra pounds will go away?”

-Who's talking! I just have wide bones! – the husband replied with a laugh.

-No, no… Listen, Krysia is a young girl, she's already looking at all kinds of muscular, handsome men – Maria replied, looking me straight in the eye.

I rejected these absurd accusations. We shouted at each other for another hour, but each of us was lost in our own thoughts. Towards the end of the conversation, the husband began to recall the nonsense his daughter had told him. In his opinion, I was some kind of scum who she got mad at the young girl for no reason.

-You know what? If that rude woman comes to our house again, I'll leave! So make up your mind — I broke down and gave my husband a choice. I don't know how it will all end. But I'm going to fight and I won't let her destroy my family like that!
