Real-life. “For fifteen years, I was the only one supporting our family”: Now my husband believes in himself and wants a divorce and half of my company

When I married Stefan, I realized that he is not the type of man who makes a woman feel like she is behind a stone wall.

Without a doubt, I was the most important person in our family. And I was completely happy with that, because I always understood who I was and what I wanted in life. I wanted to manage people, have my own business, be rich and successful. But at the same time I wanted a family.

A husband, children, a cozy home. I tried to build a serious relationship a few times, but over time I realized that women like me were repulsive to most men. They were either afraid to compete with me or they tried to suppress me and show me that a man should be the boss of the house.

Stefan was different. From the first moment we met, he looked at me with admiration and adoration. He listened with open mouths as I talked about my work and never said that a woman should stay at home and take care of the children. We got married ten months after we met. It was my initiative and I proposed to Stefan myself. I was already thirty-five then and I realized that I would either get married and have children now or never.

Ten months later, our daughter was born. We immediately decided that my husband would be on maternity leave. Of course, I spent the first three months with Sonia, and then Stefan took care of her. I was just starting my business, and its development required a lot of time and effort. My husband helped me a lot. He looked after the house and our daughter. I worked, everything was fine, and a year later our second daughter was born. I returned to work almost immediately. Stefan and I talked, and he left his company and joined mine. The position was small, purely nominal, and he had almost nothing to do there. But the salary was good and it stayed that way all these years.

My husband worked very little in my company and took care of the children and the house all the time. In addition, we already had a visiting nanny and a housekeeper. It seemed to me that St&phane lived in paradise. Isn't that what everyone dreams of? You don't work, you live a comfortable life, you take care of the children, in your free time you do whatever you want…

However, as it turned out, my husband still lacked something. Despite the fact that I worked hard, I didn't suffer from blindness. I quickly realized that my husband was cheating on me. I immediately talked to him and he admitted everything.

-So divorce – I told him calmly. – I won't tolerate such an attitude after everything I've done for you.

“-I've tolerated you all these years!” he suddenly shouted. You never considered me a man, you always did whatever you wanted, and I was somewhere in the background!

-And it looks like you did pretty well there – I said – Show me at least one of your friends or acquaintances who got that kind of salary without really doing anything. Okay, when you start living off your cheap stuff, get a permanent job and remember how great it was with me.

-Actually, I have every right to half of your business! – the man suddenly declared. For a few seconds I was even stunned by his impudence.

-What do you have to do with my business?

-You wouldn't have any of this without me! – Stefan exclaimed.

-I've always been your reliable rearguard.

-That doesn't give you the right to half the business – I replied.

-I worked for your company for many years – the man said. – And if I didn't take care of the kids and the housework, you'd be an ordinary housewife without me!

– I see you have too much faith in yourself – I said. For some reason, Stefan decided to demand a division of the estate. I made it clear to him that he overestimated his strength and nothing would help. But this man wants to sue me.
