Real-life. “After six months of dating, I found out he had a wife and a child”: She claims it was just a formality

Honestly, I would never have thought I would find myself in such a trivial situation.

And if I were a naive twenty-year-old, everything would be understandable. But I'm forty-two, I've been married twice and have a grown son. And I thought I'd seen everything in this life and wouldn't be fooled so easily. Only Mirek managed to do it without much effort.

We met half a year ago on a dating app. Mirek immediately caught my attention with his good sense of humor and beautiful, correct speech. And when I saw him in person for the first time, I knew right away that he was the man of my dreams. And I could see that he felt the same way! Mirek looked at me like I was a treasure.

We called each other every day before going to bed and talked for hours. We tried to see each other at least a few times a week. I can say with certainty that there were no signs of another woman.

His clothes didn't smell like someone else's perfume and he never disappeared in the evenings or on weekends. I could call him at any time and he would pick up the phone immediately. Generally speaking, I trusted him.

The only thing that worried me was that after six months of dating, he never asked to move in together. Of course, as a woman, I had thought through all the options a long time ago. I planned for my son to stay in my apartment and for me to move in with Mirek. But he never mentioned it. We either met on my property or went somewhere together on weekends.

For example, out of town. At the same time, he always had plausible explanations for why we couldn't spend time at his house. “It's so dusty and dirty, you can't even imagine it,” he complained to me. “I try not to be in the apartment myself. I stay with you or my friends. Sometimes I go to my parents'.”

He told me about it in such detail that I believed him. But time passed, and there was no end in sight to the renovation.

I asked him to take me to his place because I wanted to see how the renovation was going, but he insisted NO and that was it. Finally, he snapped…

-It's just that I don't live alone – I felt sick, already knowing what he would say next.

-My ex-wife and son live with me – he continued. – I was afraid you'd take it the wrong way.

-Wrong?! – I shouted. – You never even said you were divorced.

-Not officially yet – he said. – We're in the process, so to speak.

-Why do you live together? – I asked.

-It's hard to sell or exchange an apartment – Mirek replied. – You know how the real estate market is now. I want my wife and son to have their own apartment, and I want a place I won't be ashamed to bring you. But there are no suitable options yet. So for now we all have to live together.

I told him that he has to move out of his ex-wife's house soon if he wants to continue his relationship with me.

-What should I do, rent an apartment and waste money? – he replied. I don't know how to solve this situation yet, because I feel less and less safe in this relationship.
